Tiered offers allow you to segment your community’s access and features based on membership levels. Instead of offering a single one-size-fits-all membership, you can create different price points for varying benefit levels, increasing members' perceived value.
This method is ideal for providing premium content, exclusive access, or differentiating between casual members and power members.
In this guide, you will learn how to:
Guide to Creating Tiered Offers:
Select Your Membership Tiered Offer Type
In the new offer creation interface, you can choose from several offer types, each designed for different membership models:
-
Paid Membership:
-
Charge a recurring fee (weekly/monthly/quarterly/yearly/installment) for full access to your community or selected premium content.
-
Ideal for communities looking to monetize long-term with recurring income.
-
-
Freemium Membership:
-
Provide limited, free access to basic content while charging for full access.
-
Great for onboarding new members and letting them experience part of your community before upgrading.
-
💡 Digital Products such as access to courses, resources, events, or downloadable products, are one-time purchase offers and, therefore, are not recommended as a tiered offer.
Define Membership Tiers
Once you’ve selected either Paid Membership or Freemium Membership, it’s time to set up membership tiers. Here’s how to do it:
Membership Tier Name: Enter a clear, compelling name for each tier (e.g., Basic, Pro, Premium).
Description: Highlight key benefits that differentiate this tier from others, such as access to exclusive content, events, or support.
Group Color: The color will appear next to the member’s name, adding a visual indicator of their membership level.
Pricing: Choose whether members will be charged monthly, yearly, quarterly, or in installments, or pay what you can.
Advanced Pricing Options:
-
Add Upfront Registration Fee: You can charge a one-time setup fee, which will add a perceived premium value.
Access Settings: Use this feature to define which parts of the community each tier can access.
-
For example, a Basic tier might only access general chat rooms, while a Pro tier could unlock private channels, courses, premium announcements, and more.
-
From the Access Settings menu, select the channels, announcements, and specific courses available to each tier.
Add Additional Tiers:
-
You can click + Add Membership Tier to create additional tiers.
-
Repeat the process for each new tier. Customize the description, pricing, and access to reflect the features unique to each membership level.
💡 Pro Tip: When creating tiers, ensure there’s a clear distinction in value between each level. Members should feel like they are getting their money’s worth by upgrading to a higher tier.
Best Practices for Tiered Offers
-
Ensure Clear Value Differentiation: Each tier should offer an increase in value. Whether access to exclusive content, more interaction with community leaders, or additional resources, members need to feel they’re getting something worthwhile as they move up the pricing ladder.
-
Leverage Free Trials: Offering a trial period can help reduce the barrier to entry and encourage more people to explore your community's value before they commit to payment.
-
Engage with Members Regularly: Use workflows to stay connected with members after they sign up, purchase, or cancel. Sending reminders, offering upsells, or giving members a special discount can help improve conversion rates.
-
Test Pricing: Don’t be afraid to experiment with pricing. You can adjust tier prices based on community feedback or align them with the provided value.
Creating tiered offers allows you to customize your membership structure, provide targeted access, and maximize revenue potential. By following the steps outlined above, you’ll be able to offer a personalized, tiered experience that aligns with your community's needs.
