What is the difference between a voice room and a voice channel?

  • Updated

In Heartbeat, both voice rooms and voice channels provide platforms for live audio interactions within your community. However, they are designed for different purposes and offer distinct functionalities. This guide aims to help you understand the key differences between the two, so you can use them effectively to enhance community engagement.

Voice Room

Voice rooms are temporary audio spaces for casual conversations. They are ideal for focused, time-limited discussions. These rooms are visible to all community members, and everyone will be notified once there are three participants in the call.

Voice Channel

A voice channel is a permanent space within your community intended for ongoing and continuous conversations. It is always available for members to join and use at any time. Unlike voice rooms, which are temporary, voice channels remain active and accessible at all times.

You can also set voice channels as private, allowing only specific groups to join. Additionally, you can set an attendee limit to control the maximum occupancy.
