How to preview what a user sees in your community and using the Community Explorer

  • Updated

Heartbeat provides multiple ways to see what your members are able to access in your community, what content is available for specific tiers and Access Groups and how upsells display for members.

Preview as Member

The easiest way to check what an Access Group can see in your community is by using our "Preview as Member" feature. To access it, click on your profile picture on the top right corner.

Heartbeat will then automatically create a new user that will function as a full member. Now, select one Access Group from the dropdown list to view how the community displays for members of that group:

You can swap Access Groups or press "Exit" to leave this preview. Now, you'll have a testing member for each Access Group available in your community (which you can delete at any time).

Community Explorer

Once you've created your groups and set them up, you can use the Community Explorer to see what each group has access to.

To do this, click on the Groups Overview button (top-right corner) to see all of the channels, documents, courses, and events in your community.

The Community Explorer can also be used at the member level. If you are looking at a member profile, you can press "Preview Access" at the top to better understand what each member can currently see in your community.

You can also do this when viewing your Access Groups list. Go to Settings > Members > Access Groups and click the 3-dot menu to select "Preview Access".

The same is possible when looking at any Offer, allowing you to see the level of access that each tier currently has.

You can also use this feature to quick check which content is displaying upsells for a member. Content that has a paywall for a user will appear with a lock icon on the community explorer.
