You can embed audio and video content directly into documents and course lessons in Heartbeat.

Below the box, you'll see a link called Click here to embed an external video instead.
Click on that and you'll see the options for adding the content. We recommend using the link rather than the embed code.
Documents
Edit the document where you wish to add the embedded audio or video content.
Click on Add Embed. Then, paste the link to the content in the box and click Add.
Supported Embeds
We support embeddable iframes only. No <script> tags allowed — this is for platform security.

Best Practice: Use Direct Links Instead of Embed Code
Whenever possible, use a direct link from a supported site instead of raw iframe code.

Why isn't my embedded content displaying correctly?
Good question — here's what to keep in mind:
- Heartbeat creates a "window" to the embedded site, but we don’t control the content inside that window.
- Some sites (especially lesser-known video hosts) don’t send embeddable content in a reliable way.
- Videos hosted on restricted or domain-locked platforms (like some Vimeo setups) may not play correctly.
- Script-based embeds won’t work at all — we block these for security reasons.
Because of this, we can only provide limited support for display issues tied to external embeds.
