Access is set on the Resource, and it covers every document inside it. There is no per-document access setting, so you cannot open up one document in a restricted Resource or restrict one document in an open one.
If you need two levels of access, use two Resources.
How to limit access
- Open the Resource
- Click the three-dot menu and choose Edit details
- Under Community access, choose Limited access
- Under Included access, add the roles and groups that should get it free. They appear as chips. Administrator is there by default and can be removed
- Save
Everyone not covered by one of those chips loses access. If you also want them to be able to buy their way in, switch on One-time purchase and set a price. Leave it off and the Resource is simply closed to everyone else.
Common setups
- Paid members only. Limited access, with the group tied to your paid offer on the included list.
- A paid add-on. Limited access, included list left to admins, One-time purchase switched on with a price.
- A benefit of your tier, and a product for everyone else. Limited access with your paid group included, plus One-time purchase switched on. Members get it free, everyone else can buy it.
- Admin-only internal notes. Limited access, with only Administrator on the included list.
Splitting a Resource so part of it is free
Since access is all-or-nothing, the way to give people a taste is a second Resource. Publish a short free one, and link from it to the paid one. The free Resource is what you share; the paid one sits behind it.
