Event times in the app are shown in the time zone of the device you are viewing on, so members do not have to calculate time differences. Emails about an Event work differently. They use the time zone saved on the recipient’s Heartbeat account.
In the app
- You are based in New York, in the US Eastern time zone.
- You schedule an Event for next Tuesday at 3:00pm.
- You see the Event at 3:00pm. A member in California, in the US Pacific time zone, sees it at 12:00pm.
Time stamps on posts in the community follow the same rule.
In email
Emails about an Event use the time zone saved on the recipient’s account. That time zone is set when they join, and it updates each time they sign in on the web or the desktop app. Signing in on the Heartbeat mobile app does not update it.
This means a member who has only ever used the mobile app can see one time in the app and a different time in their Event emails.
If email times look wrong
Ask the member to open your community in a web browser and sign in once. That updates the time zone saved on their account, and Event emails after that will match what they see in the app.
There is no time zone setting inside Heartbeat that members or admins can change directly.
