✨ Try this with Pulse
Pulse can help you draft your Code of Conduct in seconds. Try it here!
Setting a clear tone from day one is critical, and Heartbeat makes it easy to require every new member to agree to your Code of Conduct before they can use your community.
Step-by-Step: Add a Code of Conduct to Onboarding
Go to the Resources tab in your community sidebar.
-
Either:
Use the default Code of Conduct template
Or create your own document with your community’s rules and expectations
Once your document is ready, click the Settings icon in the top-right corner.
Then, click People and select the Onboarding tab.
Scroll down and toggle on the Code of Conduct option.
Select the document you'd like to use.
Click Save Changes.
Use the document’s description and formatting tools to make expectations clear, including what’s encouraged, what’s off-limits, and any consequences.
What New Members See
The first time a new member opens your community after signing up, the full document appears in a pop-up.
The pop-up cannot be closed or skipped. They have to click “Agree” to continue.
It is not one of the signup questions, so the Preview button in your onboarding settings does not show it.
Only people who join after you switch it on are asked to accept. Your existing members are not prompted.
The document remains accessible later via your community's Resources.
