Cohorts allow you to run the same course with multiple exclusive groups that have no interaction with each other or with existing Access Groups. Each cohort operates as an isolated learning environment while sharing the same core curriculum.
How to create a new Cohort
Prerequisites: You must have an existing Course before creating cohorts.
To create a cohort, navigate to your existing Course and click the 3-dot menu and select "Create another cohort".
How to build a new Cohort for your Course
- Fill in your new Cohort Name
- Set an Abbreviation for this cohort
- Create Discussion Channels so members of your cohort have shared spaces within the community to discuss, submit assignments and ask questions
- You can also select different instructors per cohort to approve submissions, under "Course Instructors"
-
Then, finish creating your cohort by selecting the price point and if it's bundled with an existing membership.
How Cohorts Work
Automatic Organization:
- Each cohort creates its own distinct Access Group with the same name as the cohort
- Dedicated channels are created with abbreviations for easy identification (e.g., "C1" for Cohort 1)
- All cohort channels follow the naming pattern:
channel-name-abbreviation(likediscussions-c1,resources-c1) - Once a member has joined a cohort, they are not shown newer cohorts
Content Delivery:
- Use existing Drip schedules to deliver content simultaneously to multiple cohorts
- Same curriculum delivered to different groups on synchronized timelines
- Each cohort progresses through identical course structure independently
Instruction Management:
- Assign different instructors to each cohort for assignment review and guidance
- Instructors only see and interact with their assigned cohort's submissions
- Flexible staffing allows for specialized expertise per group
