How can we help?

Change the Primary Email or Owner for Your Heartbeat Payments Stripe Account

  • Updated

This guide covers how to transfer your Heartbeat community's Stripe account to a new owner or update the email address associated with your Stripe account.

Changing the Stripe Account Email

You can update the email address on your Stripe account at any time directly through Stripe - no action is needed within Heartbeat. Since Heartbeat's connection uses your Stripe Account ID (not the email), changing the email won't affect the connection to your community.

Transferring Stripe Account Ownership

If you're transferring ownership of your community to someone else, you have two options for handling the Stripe account:

Option 1: Transfer Ownership of Your Existing Stripe Account

Transfer the Stripe account ownership directly through Stripe, then transfer Heartbeat admin access.

How it works:

  1. Transfer the Stripe account to the new owner following Stripe's ownership transfer guide
  2. Make the new owner an Admin in your Heartbeat community
  3. Remove your own admin access or deactivate your account

The Stripe connection continues working automatically—no action needed in Heartbeat. All subscriptions, payment history, and offers remain intact.

Option 2: Connect a Different Stripe Account

If you need to connect an entirely different Stripe account:

If you have NO active subscriptions:

  1. Go to Admin Settings > Configure Payments
  2. Click Disconnect Stripe
  3. Connect the new Stripe account

If you have active subscriptions:

You cannot disconnect Stripe when active subscriptions exist. Contact the support team to request a Stripe account switch—our engineering team will handle the subscription migration.

Important: This option requires canceling and recreating all offers, so we recommend Option 1 (transferring ownership of your existing Stripe account) whenever possible.
