Pausing a workflow stops it from running for new members. Members who are already partway through a multi-step workflow will continue to receive any remaining queued actions.
How to pause a workflow
- Go to Settings > Workflows.
Open Workflows → - Find the active workflow you want to pause.
- Select the three-dot menu (⋯) to the right of the workflow name.
- Select Pause.
To resume the workflow, follow the same steps and select Unpause.
What pausing actually does
Pausing a workflow only affects new entries into that workflow. Here's what to expect:
- New members – the workflow will not trigger for anyone who meets the entry conditions while the workflow is paused.
- Members already in the workflow – any actions already queued for these members will still run on schedule. Pausing does not cancel in-progress sequences.
If you need to stop queued actions for members already in a workflow, you'll need to cancel the workflow rather than pause it. See How do I cancel a scheduled workflow?
Frequently asked questions
A member triggered my workflow before I paused it. Will they still get the follow-up actions?
Yes. Pausing only prevents the workflow from starting for new members. Anyone who already triggered it will continue through the remaining steps as scheduled.
Will pausing a workflow affect my other workflows?
No. Pausing one workflow has no effect on any others.
What's the difference between pausing and canceling a workflow?
Pausing keeps the workflow intact and lets you resume it later – it just stops new members from entering. Canceling a scheduled workflow removes the pending run entirely. See How do I cancel a scheduled workflow? for details.
