Heartbeat does not have usernames. Every member appears under one name, and that name is what shows on their posts, comments, direct messages and in the member directory.

That name does not have to be a legal first and last name. It is a single free text field, so members can set it to whatever they want to be shown as, including a single word, a nickname, or a business name.

To change your name

1. Click your profile picture in the top right corner.
2. Select Account Settings.
3. Update your name and save.

The change applies everywhere in the community straight away. There is no separate display name, so the name you set is the only one other members see.
