The name on your members' card statements comes from your community's Stripe account, not from Heartbeat, so you can change it yourself in Stripe.
Where the name comes from
Heartbeat charges members through your own connected Stripe account and doesn't set a statement name. Stripe sends two things with each charge:
- your statement descriptor, the name printed on the statement
- your public business name and website, which many banking apps show instead of the descriptor
If members see a name they don't recognise, check both.
How to change it
- In Heartbeat, go to Settings > Revenue > Settings and select Visit Stripe.
- In Stripe, open Public details.
- Update these in order:
- Public business name: your community's name. Your legal business name doesn't change.
- Business website and support website: your community link works, for example https://app.heartbeat.chat/yourcommunity.
- Statement descriptor: last, because Stripe only accepts a descriptor that matches your business name or website.
The new name applies to charges from then on. Past charges keep the name they already show, and each bank decides how a charge is displayed, so some banking apps take a while to catch up.
If members join with a free first month, tell them what the charge will look like before their first renewal.
