This article will dive into every way you can use groups to limit access to content in your community. Groups give you control over who can view, edit, and interact with content in your community. Check out this help article for an overview of groups.

Using groups, you can limit access to the following in your community:

  1. Discussion Channels (threads, live chats, voice/video rooms)

  2. Community Sidebar (User Directory, Matchups, Custom Links)

Limiting access to content with a paid group

When you limit access to content in the community using a paid group, you are requiring a member to pay to join the group before viewing and interacting with the content. This is how paid communities work in Heartbeat.

In-community upsells

If your paid group has upsells turned on, the content it controls access to will be shown to members outside of the group with a lock icon and a custom upsell message. Learn more about creating upsells in your community.
