How to Move a Thread to a Different Channel

  • Updated

Need to clean up your channels or help organize posts? Heartbeat makes it easy to move any thread to a different space — as long as both channels are Threads channels.

⚠️ You can only move posts between Threads channels. Posts in Threads channels cannot be moved into Chat channels.

🔁 To move a single thread:

  1. Click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner of the thread

  2. Select “Move”

  3. Choose the new channel you'd like to move the thread to

  4. Hit Move to confirm

🤔 Why move threads?

There are a few great reasons you might want to move a thread:

  • Someone posted in the wrong channel
A quick move helps you gently redirect members and reinforce channel guidelines without deleting anything.

  • You're consolidating channels
When you're merging two related channels, moving old threads makes it easy to preserve important conversations.

  • You’re reorganizing content
As your community evolves, threads may belong in different places than where they were originally posted.

How to Move All Threads in a Channel

If you're cleaning up a whole channel — or merging channels together — Heartbeat also lets you bulk move all threads.

📦 To move all threads:

  1. Hover over the channel name in the left sidebar

  2. Click the three-dot menu that appears

  3. Select “Move All Threads”

  4. Pick the destination channel and confirm

This is a quick way to tidy up without losing history—especially helpful when restructuring or archiving channels.
