How to Send Voice Notes in Heartbeat

Sometimes it’s just easier to say it out loud. That’s where voice notes come in.

With the Heartbeat mobile app, you can send quick audio messages in DMs, comments, and threads — all with just a few taps. Each voice note is also auto-transcribed, so your message is accessible even if someone can’t listen to it right away.

📱 How to Send a Voice Note

  1. Open the Heartbeat mobile app
Navigate to the message or thread where you want to leave a voice note.

  2. Tap the reply field
You’ll see your keyboard pop up, and just to the left of the text field is a little microphone icon.

  3. Tap the microphone icon to begin recording
Once tapped, recording will start immediately. You’ll see a small recording indicator at the bottom left of your screen.

  4. Tap the stop button (a small square) to finish
This will end the recording and bring up a preview screen.

  5. Listen back & send
Replay the message to make sure everything sounds good.
Then hit the Send button (located on the far right).

🔍 What Happens After Sending?

  • The voice note will appear with a play button

  • Right below it, Heartbeat will automatically add a transcription of the voice note

  • This makes it easier for others to read or respond, especially in quiet settings

When to Use Voice Notes

  • Giving detailed feedback in DMs

  • Sharing quick context or updates

  • Responding while on the go — just speak instead of typing

  • Making your community feel more personal & human
