A common setup: one community, several separate paid Offers, each tied to its own topic or audience (for example, one Offer for a members-only channel on Topic A, a separate Offer for Topic B, and another for Topic C). This guide covers whether a member can subscribe to more than one of these at once, what they see when they do, and the settings to check so the Offers stay independent.
The short answer
Yes. A member can hold several active paid Offers in the same community at the same time, under one login. Subscribing to a second Offer does not cancel, replace, or pause any Offer they already have.
How this works
- Every Offer you create grants access to its own group. When someone buys Offer A, they're added to Offer A's group; buying Offer B separately adds them to Offer B's group too.
- Access is additive. A member sees and can use the content behind every group they belong to, so someone holding both Offer A and Offer B gets both sets of content automatically, in the same community, without switching accounts or logging in anywhere else.
- There's no platform limit on how many paid Offers or Access Groups a single member can hold at once.
Set these up as separate Offers, not tiers of one Offer
This is the detail that trips people up, because it's easy to build the wrong structure and get the opposite of what you want.
- Separate Offers (what you want here). Create one Offer per topic/audience. Each is billed, tracked, and cancelled independently. A member can be in as many of these as they choose to buy.
- Tiers within a single Offer (not what you want here). If you instead add your topics as multiple tiers inside one Offer (Basic/Premium-style), those tiers are mutually exclusive. A member can only be in one tier of that Offer at a time; buying a second tier moves them off the first rather than adding to it.
If your goal is for a member to stack access across topics, build each topic as its own standalone Offer.
One setting to check: how each Offer behaves on cancellation
Each Offer has an On Cancellation setting with two options:
- Remove Offer Access — the member loses only that Offer's group; everything else on their account is untouched.
- Block Community Access — the member is locked out of the entire community, not just that Offer's group.
Heartbeat's paywall logic is community-wide, not per-Offer. If a member holds three Offers and even one of them is set to Block Community Access, cancelling that one Offer locks them out of the whole community, even though their other two subscriptions are still active and paid up.
If you want your Offers to behave as independent, stackable memberships, set Remove Offer Access on each one rather than Block Community Access.
Frequently asked questions
Will buying a second Offer cancel or replace my first one?
No. Each Offer is billed and tracked as a separate purchase. Buying Offer B has no effect on Offer A's subscription.
Is there a limit on how many Offers or Access Groups one member can hold?
No. There's no cap on concurrent paid Offers or Access Groups, on any plan.
What happens if a member cancels just one of their several Offers?
They lose access to that Offer's group only, provided it's set to Remove Offer Access. If that Offer is set to Block Community Access instead, cancelling it locks them out of the entire community regardless of their other active subscriptions. See Understanding paywalls in Heartbeat for the full breakdown.
I want one purchase to unlock several groups at once instead of separate purchases. Is that possible?
Yes, that's a different setup called a Bundled Offer: one Offer, one purchase, access to multiple groups. See How to Create Bundled Offers if you'd rather combine everything into a single price instead of letting members choose and pay for topics individually.
Does this work under one login, or does the member need to join a second community?
One login, one community. Multiple Offers within the same community stack on the same account; there's no need to join a second community or switch between accounts.
