When creating your event, you have the option to publish it to your community on a scheduled date in the future. You can select this from the dropdown menu of the "Create" button when creating the event.

When an event is scheduled, it will appear as a draft event and will be visible to all admins in your community. Event emails to the invited community members will not send until the event is published on the date your select.
