What type of Access Group should I set up for my community?
Typically, community builders use a combination of all three types of groups. Below, we cover the limitations and showcase some examples of what they would be most suited for.
| Group Type | Best for | How do members join? | Example |
| Admin Controlled |
Paid Offers Private areas within your community |
Members can only join with a connected purchase or if an Admin adds them to the group. | A new Offer will automatically create an Admin Controlled Access Group. |
| Joinable | Segmentation Interest groups |
Members can join from Account Settings > My Groups. | Members can pick an Access Group to join during onboarding. |
| Automated |
Tracking member activity Gamification |
Members can't join Automated Groups. Automated Groups can't be paid. | Automatically set a badge that displays a member's tenure in the community. |
Are all Access Groups for a member displayed on their profile?
You can control if your Access Groups appear on member profiles by updating the "Visibility" section when you create an Access Group.
- Profile will display the Access Group on a member profile
- Badge will display the Access Group next to their member name
