How to Rearrange Discussion Channels

  • Updated

Need to tidy up your sidebar? You can easily rearrange your channels in Heartbeat by clicking, dragging, and dropping them in your left sidebar.

You can:

  • Move channels up or down within a section

  • Move channels between different sections

  • Organize content in a way that better reflects how members use the community

Why rearrange your channels?

Reordering channels isn’t just about aesthetics — it helps improve the clarity, usability, and focus of your community.

Here are a few common reasons to rearrange:

  • Make important content easier to find
Move your most-used channels to the top so new members don’t miss them.

  • Group similar topics together
Place all support-related channels near each other, or organize by theme (e.g. “Learning,” “Networking,” “Events”).

  • Reflect community priorities
If your community is seasonal or cohort-based, move current discussion channels to the top, and archive old ones below.

  • Improve onboarding experience
New members are more likely to explore when the layout feels intuitive and not cluttered.

That’s it! Drag, drop, done.
