The thumbnail is the image members see on a video before they press play. You can set it to any frame from the video or upload your own image.
How to change it
-
Click the three-dot menu next to the video and select Edit Thumbnail.
-
Choose one of the two options:
Choose video frame: play or scrub through the video and pause on the frame you want.
-
Upload image: click the gray Upload image button that appears underneath and choose a JPG or PNG from your computer. Use an image with the same aspect ratio as your video (16:9 for most recordings) so it isn't cropped.
Click Save thumbnail.
The new thumbnail replaces the old one everywhere the video appears, including Course lessons and their lesson cards, Documents and Resources.
Limitations
Only Admins can change thumbnails.
You can only change thumbnails for videos in your Video Library (native videos). Videos embedded from YouTube, Vimeo or Loom keep the thumbnail set on that platform.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I go back to a video frame after uploading an image? Yes. Open Edit Thumbnail again, select Choose video frame, pick a frame and click Save thumbnail.
What does a video show if I never change its thumbnail? A short looping preview of the first few seconds of the video. Once you save a thumbnail, members see that still image instead, and there's no option to switch back to the preview.
