Create a thoughtful onboarding that's perfectly tailored to your community.

Updated over 3 months ago

Create a customizable onboarding flow in your community by asking onboarding questions, giving them the option to join other groups, asking their socials, and more! 😊

How to Customize Your Onboarding

  1. Go to Settings by clicking on your name and profile pic in the lower left corner.

  2. Click Onboarding Setup. By default, the onboarding setup is visible only for the admins. You can adjust role settings if you want to allow other roles to be able to update your onboarding setting.

  3. You have the option to create and ask different questions, which group they want to join, have the intro post to automatically reflect in the introductions channel β€” or whichever channel you like, share social links, and have them read your community's code of conduct.

  4. Click on the 'Preview' button to be taken through the onboarding flow.

  5. Click 'Save' at the top of the page to save any changes.

Setting Up Onboarding Questions

You can set up onboarding questions to be required, to include the answers in their bio, or to be kept private.

To add a new question, click on the 'Add Question' button. To delete a question, click on the X to the right of the question.

After making any changes, be sure to save your work by scrolling up to click on the 'Save' button. Alternatively, you can also preview the onboarding flow before deciding to save.

If you select the 'Private' option, the answers will be available on a CSV in Settings > All Users > Download CSV or you can expand the user profile on your All Users pages.

Set Up Groups in Onboarding

You can prompt users to join a group when they join the community.

  1. Click on 'Add Group'

  2. Select the group you want to prompt them to join.

    • Note: This will only work if you have a group with subgroups. You can double-check from Settings > Manage Groups.

  3. Choose if you want to give them a single select or multi-select choice.

  4. Type in your question.

  5. Scroll up to Save.

Troubleshooting: Groups Not Visible During Onboarding

If groups do not appear during the onboarding process, it may be due to missing subgroups in your setup. Here's how to resolve the issue:

  1. Check Group Settings:
Go to General Settings > Manage Group to ensure subgroups are set up within the relevant groups. Without subgroups, groups won't be visible during the onboarding selection.

  2. Create an Onboarding Profile:
You'll need to create an onboarding profile to display groups during onboarding. In this profile, select the group that contains the subgroups. If you want to keep certain subgroups isolated, you can also control subgroup visibility by adjusting their settings.

  3. Configure Onboarding Flow:
Verify that the onboarding process has been properly set up under Settings > Onboarding Setup. Here, you can add groups to the onboarding flow, ensuring they are visible to members during the onboarding process.

Once these settings are properly configured, members will be prompted to select their group(s) during onboarding.
