What are Protected Links?

Heartbeat provides a security feature that helps protect your events from unauthorized access. The feature masks all your event links with a pre-generated link that authenticates users.

If your members have canceled their subscriptions or left your community, they won't be able to access your events through the calendar invites.

Here's how it works

  1. Each of your event links (Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, etc.) will be replaced with a link that looks like "heartbeat. chat/eventRedirect/{unique_token}".

  2. When a user clicks on the link, Heartbeat does a check to ensure their user account has access the event.

  3. If the user has access, they will be redirected to your online event link (Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, or wherever you're hosting the event).

  4. If the user doesn't have access, they will be informed that they need to be a part of your community or have a paid membership to gain access and will be blocked from joining the event.

An added benefit is that even if you change the Zoom link at the last minute, your members can still access the event using the redirect.
