General Settings

Setting

Description

Community Name

Your community name can be changed.

Community Support Email

This email is where members will be directed if they have questions about your community. Also, this email is used as the reply-to email for community notifications. Your community support email can be changed.

Weekly Digest

You can opt to turn the weekly digest on or off. You can also choose what time and day the weekly digest is sent, and you can preview it.

Hide User Emails

Toggling this button on will make it so that the email addresses are not shown on a user's profile.

Enable Abuse Reporting

Toggling this on will allow members to report other member's DMs. Reports are sent to the email provided.

Prevent DMs

Toggling this on will prevent members from direct messaging each other.

GIF Content

Select a content rating to limit the content members can view in the Giphy popup within your community. Choose between No restrictions, G, Y, PG, and PG-13. Learn more here.

Disable Profile Editing

This will disable members ability to edit their profile in Heartbeat. Instead, you can make it so that members can manage their profile on your site.

Custom Domain

Setting

Custom Domain

You can custom domain your community by toggling this button on. Learn more here.

Homepage Link

Direct users to your homepage from Heartbeat. If set, your logo in the top left will navigate users to the link you provide.

Custom Login Page

Customize the landing page of your custom domain by adding a Title, rich text description, video, and call to action button.

Default Invitation

If you select an invitation link here, anyone that visits your home page will have the option to sign up. Clicking on sign up will direct them to this invitation.

Email Domain Settings

Email Domain Settings allows you to choose a custom domain for your community emails to come from. By default, community emails sent to members are from the Heartbeat domain. Learn more here.

After you set up your custom email domain, you can customize parts of your Weekly Digest and New Member Invitation emails.

Groups

Prompt users to join groups as they onboard.

Intros Channel

Automatically post newly onboarded member's introductions to a channel.

Social Links

Video

Show a video to new members to introduce them to your community.

Description

Threads

The main communication channel for your community: threads, chats and direct messages. This section cannot be toggled off.

Courses

Create courses with lessons, assignments & completion tracking for your members. Give the section a custom name or toggle off to remove it from the sidebar.

Docs

A community knowledge base to share writing, content, links, and saved threads that the community can use as a reference. Give the section a custom name or toggle off to remove it from the sidebar.

Events

Manage live community events -- including invitation management, attendance tracking, event reminders, and feedback collection. Give the section a custom name or toggle off to remove it from the sidebar.

User Directory

Full member search within your entire community. Give the section a custom name or toggle off to remove it from the sidebar. You may also limit access to this section by user role or group.

Matchups

Set up and automate match ups between community members. Give the section a custom name or toggle off to remove it from the sidebar. You may also limit access to this section by user role or group.

Analytics

Only visible for admins. View stats for how your members are using Heartbeat. Give the section a custom name or toggle off to remove it from the sidebar.

Kickstart

Only visible for admins. A getting started checklist to help you set up your community. Toggle this section off when you're done setting up your community.

Add Link

Add your own custom link to the left sidebar. You may also limit access to this custom link by user role or group. Learn more here.

API Keys

Description

Create API Key

Create API keys to connect to integration managers, like Zapier, or use Heartbeat's webhooks. Anyone with an API key is able to take admin actions in your community. Only share API keys with people you can trust. Learn more here.
